INSTRUCTIONS ON USING THE ISOM, NASOM, and SOMANZ OBMed Listerv 2015

The ObMed listerv offers a real-time email discussion tool for society members with clinical questions. The fees for this list are covered by these organizations and access is free to society members. You will only receive emails when a list member sends a query to the list. It is not active every day so we recommend you sign up and test the waters.

USE PROPER JUDGEMENT REGARDING CONTANT. RESPECT PATIENT PRIVACY AND DO NOT INCLUDE ANY SPECIFIC OR PROTECTED PATIENT HEALTH INFORMATION. THE SOCIETIES SIMPLY PROVIDE A TOOL FOR COMMUNICATION BUT ARE IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR SPECIFIC MEMBER CONTENT.

Once you have created a profile you will be able to login to

  1. Change your email address as needed. Change password as needed
  2. Change the frequency at which you receive emails
  3. View the member list
  4. Search archived discussions

To sign up as a NEW USER

Go to this link: http://lists.obmed.org/listmanager/listinfo/obmeddiscussion

  1. Enter your email and name in the appropriate boxes
  2. Create a password
  3. Click subscribe
    1. The default setting is to receive all messages instantly. This allows you to send and receive clinical questions to the over 300 list members instantly.

REGISTERED USERS: HOW TO SEND AN EMAIL /question/information to the list:

Simply send an email from you registered email address to obmeddiscussion@lists.obmed.org
The email is instantly sent to all of the >300 list members. We suggest that you save that email address and the website login link on your computer, smartphone, etc.

REGISTERED USERS: To LOGIN to your account to Modify settings/Change registered Email Address

Due to the website not being updated in 10 years (as of 2015) please follow these instructions:
STEP 1: Go to this link: http://lists.obmed.org/listmanager/listinfo/obmeddiscussion\

      1. Scroll to the bottom of the screen (See screenshot below):

STEP 2: Enter your registered email address in the field denoted by the arrow:
STEP 3: Click the “Unsubscribe or edit options” Button:
Don’t worry as you will NOT be unsubscribed at this stage!

Modify Account Settings

On the next screen follow instructions to Change your email address.

REGISTERD USERS: Search Archives

  1. Go to this link (it’s the same one) : http://lists.obmed.org/listmanager/listinfo/obmeddiscussion
  2. Click on the link in the 2nd line of the page:”ObMedDiscussion Archives”
  3. You can then do a search by text, thread, subject, author, and/or date.

REGISTERED USERS: Decrease frequency of emails:

Login to your account (see FIGURE 1 above), scroll down and change to “Set Digest Mode”, scroll down and click the “Submit My Changes” button.  This will send you about 1 email a day when a discussion is active.
If you go to the “Mail Delivery” option and check “Disabled” then you stay subscribed but will not receive any emails. You must scroll down and click the “Submit My Changes” button.

REGISTERED USERS: Unsubscribe:

I’d recommend that rather than doing this you simply login and modify the frequency at which you receive emails by either a) disabling mail delivery or b) getting a daily digest. If you still want to unsubscribe Go to this link: http://lists.obmed.org/listmanager/listinfo/obmeddiscussion (it’s the same one list above. Follow the instructions above FIGURE 1. On the next screen, scroll down, check the box next to “Yes I really want to unsubscribe” and click the “Unsubscribe” button.
